Semi-annual results at a glance
Midway through the year, we are happy to announce that the 2016 Zambia Green Jobs Programme semi-annual results reveal that the programme is well on track to meet its targets in the Zambian housing construction sector.
For example, as at 30th June 2016:
A total of 2,889 decent and green jobs had been created.
A total of 2,910 jobs had been upgraded with better working conditions such as increased income, written and signed employment contracts, social protection, access to health insurance schemes, occupational safety and health provisions, freedom of association, rights at work and social dialogue.
A total of 1,185 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises had accessed business development services enhancing their competitiveness and job creation potential.
Through combined communications efforts 14,328 persons had been directly reached with green business and advocacy messages leading to an increased public awareness about the link between green building, environmental sustainability and employment creation.
The final results for 2016 will be published in the 2016 Annual Impact Report to be published in March 2017.
